Michael Drzal, Attorney at LeClairRyan and Chair of the
Venture Capital Practice Area Team, will lead a Venture
Capital Panel. This interactive panel, comprised of
veteran VCs, will cover a wide range of topics, including
what VCs look for in a deal, the current investing
environment, investment philosophy differences, company
valuations and deal pricing, how VCs view angel-backed
companies, hot industry sectors, and much more.
Valuation of Early-Stage Ventures Seminar

John May, managing partner of the New Vantage Group, will
lead a session on the valuation of early-stage ventures.
Over the last 20 years, John has been an advisor to, or a
general partner of, five early-stage venture capital
funds, including the UK-based Seraphim Capital formed in
2006, and is the co-author of Every Business Needs an
Angel (Crown Business: 2001).

Angel Forum

Four ready-to-fund companies from the Roanoke/New River
Region will present before a panel of locally focused
angel investors and an amphitheater full of educators,
business leaders, researchers, investors, and
entrepreneurs. The Open Angel Forum is a live pitch
session providing a unique opportunity to see how raising
capital is done with real companies and investors.
